Wildfire Service Expanded to Help Homeowners Find Shelter During Evacuations

WARREN, NJ, February 4, 2013—The Chubb Group of Insurance Companies has added evacuation assistance to its Wildfire Defense Services to help customers find shelter for their families and pets when their home is threatened by a wildfire.

Chubb can help locate and book temporary living accommodations for homeowners customers who sign up for the free Wildfire Defense Services. Chubb can also help find reputable kennels to board the pets of customers who are forced to evacuate their homes. In addition, Chubb can help homeowners prepare their homes before an evacuation and advise them on what to take with them.

Chubb Wildfire Defense Services is available to customers in 14 Western states. Established in 2008, the program provides education and property risk assessments to customers and helps protect their homes during a wildfire. Certified wildfire fighters may help protect threatened structures by taking such measures as moving lawn furniture indoors, setting up a temporary perimeter sprinkler system and applying a highly effective fire-blocking gel to the house.

“Being forced to evacuate your home can be a harrowing experience, and Chubb’s new evacuation assistance service can help make it less stressful,” said Scott Spencer, senior vice president and worldwide loss prevention and appraisal manager for Chubb Personal Insurance. “We urge all our eligible homeowners customers to sign up for Chubb Wildfire Defense Services without delay. Wildfires are by their nature unpredictable, and we want to be in a position to do everything that is humanly possible to help protect our customers’ property and families.”

Eligible customers can sign up at www.chubbwildfiredefense.com, or they may contact their agent or broker.

The member insurers of the Chubb Group of Insurance Companies form a multi-billion dollar organization providing property and casualty insurance for personal and commercial customers worldwide through 8,500 independent agents and brokers.
