DiversityInc 2005 Top 50 Companies for Diversity
Chubb has again been named one of the top U.S. companies in DiversityInc magazine’s annual list of the “Top 50 Companies for Diversity.”
The only national ranking of its kind, DiversityInc’s Top 50 survey is an in-depth empirical analysis of corporate diversity management and planning. This year’s ranking is
based on 230 detailed questions analyzing human capital, CEO commitment, corporate communications (internal and external)
and supplier diversity. “Chubb Corporation’s excellence in every aspect of managing diversity is what makes it one of America’s
leading companies,” states a DiversityInc press release announcing the survey results.
Chubb made the Top 50 list in 2003, 2002, 2001 and 2000 but did not apply in 2004, because the application process had become
so arduous and the competition had become so stiff, explains Kathy Marvel, Chubb’s chief diversity officer. “We decided to
try again this year, because of the good results we had on a benchmarking study comparing Chubb to over 200 other companies,
done with DiversityInc in late 2004,” she said. “This award is particularly satisfying because there has been a 72% increase in participation by
leading U.S. companies since 2003.”
A total of 203 companies competed in the 2005 Top 50 survey. Chubb (ranked #47) was one of just two property and casualty
insurance companies to make the list.
