Human Rights Campaign Corporate Equality Index
Since 2003, Chubb has again attained the highest score (100%) on the Corporate Equality Index published by the Human Rights Campaign (HRC) Foundation, a bipartisan political organization that works to advance equality based on sexual orientation and gender expression and
identity. "We are proud that the Human Rights Campaign has recognized Chubb as a company that treats its employees fairly
and with dignity and respect," said Kathleen Marvel, Chubb's former chief diversity officer. "Chubb's success rests largely
on our ability to create an inclusive work environment that motivates all employees to reach their full potential."
The Index measures how companies are treating their gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgender employees, customers and investors.
The HRC's Corporate Equality Index is based on a survey sent to the Fortune 1000, the Standard & Poor's 500, Forbes' list
of the 200 largest privately held firms, the American Lawyer 100, and any company with at least 500 employees that asks to
be rated or for which HRC has enough information to derive a score. Companies are rated on a scale from 0 to 100 percent on
several key indicators of fair treatment for GLBT employees. Indicators include policies prohibiting discrimination based
on sexual orientation or gender identity and health care benefits for employees' partners. The 2009 report rates 548 companies;
260 companies scored 100 percent.
