Making our mark at the FSC 2025 Conference

Chubb Life New Zealand was proud to be a Platinum Sponsor of the 2025 Financial Services Council (FSC) Conference which centered around the theme “Transforming for Tomorrow.”

The conference which took place from 10 – 11 September focussed on how in this era of rapid change and increasing financial complexity, our industry across both the public and private sectors can work together to continue to grow the financial confidence and wellbeing of New Zealanders.

The Chubb Life team hit the main stage

Among a number of inspiring keynote sessions, panel discussions and debates, Chubb Life New Zealand Chief Executive Officer Paula ter Brake took part in the first Panel discussion of the conference which focussed on the overarching theme “Transforming for Tomorrow” and regulation for a modern New Zealand.

As part of the Panel, Paula alongside Chief Executive and Executive Director of Milford, Blair Turnbull, Secretary for Regulation and Chief Executive of the Ministry of Regulation Gráinne Moss, and Chief Executive of the Financial Markets Authority Samantha Barrass discussed how to build an environment that encourages innovation for a twenty-first century, and the opportunities to lift the financial wellbeing of New Zealanders with technology such as AI.

On day two, General Manager Strategy and Marketing Simon Tohill took part in what was a tight and engaging debate on whether life insurance is just an expensive burden, or an essential safeguard for the future. Simon sat on team negative, arguing for the relevance of life insurance in protecting Kiwi lives and families, making it a necessity.

Celebrating a remarkable career

Last but not least, at the gala awards dinner former Chubb Life New Zealand Chief Executive Officer Gail Costa was named the winner of the prestigious Chair’s Award for Service to the Industry, recognising her significant contribution to the advancement, promotion and improvement of the financial services industry in New Zealand across the course of her career.

In her acceptance speech Gail noted “I’ve built my career on my genuine belief of the important role that life insurance plays in making a meaningful difference in people’s lives, and so it’s a real honour to be recognised by my peers in an industry I care so deeply about.”
