Lionel Barber is a writer and broadcaster who was editor of the Financial Times from 2005-20. He is widely credited with transforming the FT from a newspaper into a multi-channel global news organization. During his editorship, the FT passed the milestone of 1m paying readers, winning many international awards and accolades for its journalism.
As editor, Barber has interviewed many of the world's leaders in business and politics, including Barack Obama, Donald Trump, Angela Merkel, Vladimir Putin, Premiers Wen Jiabao and Li Keqiang of China, President of Iran Hassan Rouhani and Presidents Zuma and Ramaphosa of South Africa. He is Chairman of the Wincott foundation and a trustee of the Carnegie Corporation of New York. His book The Powerful and the Damned was published in 2020.

Mr. Furby has more than 35 years of experience in the insurance industry. He was previously Vice President, Chubb Group and Division President, Commercial Property and Casualty, Overseas General Insurance. Prior to ACE’s acquisition of Chubb in January 2016, Mr. Furby was Division President, Commercial Property & Casualty, ACE Overseas General. He was appointed Vice President, ACE Group, in March 2014.
Previously, Mr. Furby was Division President of ACE Tempest Re Group, where he oversaw ACE’s worldwide reinsurance operations. Mr. Furby joined ACE Group in 1996.
