Guide to Taking out a Non-Life Insurance Policy
In order to provide you with the sense of security when taking out a non-life insurance policy, the Foreign Non-Life Insurance Association of Japan has prepared a booklet titled “Guide to Taking out a Non-Life Insurance Policy,” which outlines the types of non-life insurance policies and the matters that require attention. You are advised to read it when considering non-life insurance.

Non-Life Insurance Policyholders Protection System
The Non-Life Insurance Policyholders Protection Corporation of Japan is an organization which was established in December 1998 pursuant to the Insurance Business Law under the authority of the then-current Minister of Finance with the purpose of protecting the policyholders in the event of a failure of a non-life insurance company and thus maintaining the reliability of the insurance business.
All licensed non-life insurance companies which engage in the non-life insurance business in Japan participate in the Corporation and the holders of the policies issued by those insurers are covered for protection. Please note, however, that no “short-term petty insurance companies” are the members of the Corporation and accordingly their policyholders are not covered for protection.
