We all just need a little extra help sometimes. Thanks to our client benefits, you and your dependent children can get additional support and professional advice when you need it most. All at no extra cost.

What are client benefits?

These are additional benefits outside of your normal insurance cover at no extra charge to you. You can apply for them for yourself, or your life assured and dependent children.

 

They include help for a variety of situations, such as
  • Fitness or nutrition advice
    Nutritional or fitness advice from a registered practitioner.

  • Counselling services
    For situations linked to a life event.
  • Addiction services
    From gambling to alcohol and smoking.

  • General advice
    Whether you need financial, legal or career advice.

Wellness advice

You can apply to receive specific nutritional or fitness advice from a registered practitioner.

Eligibility requirements:

  • medical referral is required.*

*Information provided in the referral should relate only to the condition of referral. No other condition/s should be included.

Mental health counselling

Counselling services including but not limited to:

  • anxiety

  • depression

  • anger management

  • grief counselling

  • diagnosis of a serious illness or injury

  • stress

  • eating disorders

  • sexual harassment

  • assault

  • domestic violence

  • post accident (eg motor vehicle/motorbike)

  • parents with children who have special needs

  • children with special needs (eg ADHD, autism, Cerebral Palsy).

Eligibility requirements:

  • linked to a life event or life events.

Addiction assistance

You can get assistance for addiction to any of the following:

  • drugs

  • gambling

  • alcohol

  • smoking.

Eligibility requirements:

  • linked to a life event or events
  • will be at Chubb Life’s discretion and may require evidence to substantiate claim.

General assistance

  • Legal advice
    • limited to a lawyer preparing or updating a will.
    • limited to a lawyer preparing or updating a buy/sell agreement (Assurance Extra Business customers only).
  • Career counselling.

  • Financial advice - limited to budgeting advice and small business financial advice eg writing a business plan.

  • Employment related - limited to CV, career advice and interview preparation.

We'll contribute up to $300 for a pre-approved appointment to a maximum of $1,000 (including GST) across all policies per policy year, per life event or multiple life events. The maximum benefit is $1,000 (including GST) in total for all eligible people per policy year.

If you've already received payment under the Financial and Legal Advice Benefit or Grief Counselling Benefit as part of an eligible Assurance Extra policy benefit you will not be eligible to receive a further payment for financial or legal advice; or grief counselling under Client Benefits for your 12 month Client Benefit period.

Any client benefits must be claimed for and received within 13 months of the life event occurring.

The yearly $1,000 client benefit allocation will begin each year on your policy anniversary date. If you have multiple policies, it will begin from the anniversary date of your first Chubb Life policy.

Any unused yearly benefit does not carry over to following years.

Further benefit details

  • The employment related advice benefit covers the life event of changing or losing a job. This benefit covers CV and interview preparation and career advice.

  • The financial assistance benefit covers budgeting advice and small business financial advice eg writing a business plan.

  • The legal advice benefit is limited to a lawyer preparing or updating a will as a result of a covered life event.

Client benefits are available free of charge to the policy owner, life assured and dependant children. You need to hold a Chubb Life insurance policy, which must have been in force for at least 90 days.

Life event is defined as an experience that disrupts an individual’s usual activities causing a substantial change and adjustment. This includes but is not limited to: marriage, divorce, serious illness or injury, changing or losing a job, starting or restructuring a business, birth, being a victim of a criminal act, and natural disasters.

Client Benefits must be claimed for and received within 13 months of the life event occuring, and we may require you to provide evidence of a life event upon request

Yes, but the provider must be a registered practitioner, approved by Chubb Life and based in New Zealand.

You must have an eligible in force Chubb Life insurance policy to receive a client benefit. Your Chubb Life policy must have been in force for a minimum of 90 days and your policy must not be in arrears.

How it works:

Approval and invoicing

  • The service must be approved by Chubb Life before the benefit is carried out to/on the policy owner, life assured or dependent child.

  • Once pre-approval is provided to the policy owner, life assured or dependent child, it's the responsibility of the policy owner or life assured to make an appointment and provide Chubb Life the invoice.

  • The policy owner and/or life assured must produce a GST receipt for the appointment in order for the claim to be paid by Chubb Life. Please ensure invoices are made out to Chubb Life Insurance NZ with a reference to the claimant’s name, policy number and condition.

  • Benefits are approved at Chubb Life’s discretion.

  • Chubb Life won't pay costs relating to missed appointments or appointments cancelled outside of the provider’s required timeframe.

     

Right to change

  • Chubb Life reserves the right to change, remove or add benefits without notice.

     

Privacy

  • All benefit claims are confidential.

  • Chubb Life won't be liable for any loss (including, without limitation, indirect, special or consequential loss or loss of profits), expense, damage, personal injury or death which is suffered or sustained (whether or not arising from any person’s negligence) in connection with the services offered by the providers of these benefits or accepting or using any advice or service by any recipient, except for any liability which cannot be excluded by law (in which case that liability is limited to the minimum allowable by law.
