FAQS
Frequently asked questions

To be eligible for Chubb Life Funeral Cover :

  • Each life assured can only be covered for a maximum of $30,000 in sum insured across all Funeral Cover policies provided by Chubb Life. If this limit is exceeded, the cover under the policy may be reduced or cancelled.
  • The applicant and/or all persons to be insured must be a New Zealand Citizen, Australian Citizen, or a New Zealand Permanent Resident Visa holder and living in New Zealand at the time of application.

If you purchase Funeral Cover, you become the policy owner and can choose (or nominate) a beneficiary for each life assured.

A beneficiary is someone chosen to receive the funds from the policy after the life assured passes away, and they can use this money as they like. It’s best to choose someone you trust and who will most likely be responsible for arranging the funeral or taking care of financial matters.

Nominating a beneficiary to receive funds from your policy ensures that these funds will go directly to the person you've nominated, rather than being paid to an estate. This can make it easier and faster at claim time.

As long as the terms and conditions are met and the premiums are up to date, we’ll pay the sum insured for the relevant cover to the nominated beneficiary for that life assured.

If the life assured can no longer look after themselves at home and needs to go into long-term care, you can apply to have the premiums waived.

If your application for this Long-Term Care Premium Waiver is accepted, you will not have to pay any future premiums for the relevant cover, but the cover will continue under the policy.

This Long-Term Care Premium Waiver benefit applies separately for each amount of cover on the policy for the life assured.

For more information on eligibility and T&C's, please refer to the Policy Document

With this Funeral Cover policy, premiums are paid until the policy is claimed on, the life insured reaches age 90 or the life insured goes into long term care as per the policy wording. So, the amount of premiums paid may end up being more or less than the cover amount paid out at claim time.
